1. Bring the pouch to room temperature before opening. Remove the test cassette from the pouch and use it within one hour.
2. Place the test cassette on a clean and flat surface. Hold the pipette vertically and add 3 full drops of urine (approximately 120 yL) into the sample well (S) of the test cassette. Then start the timer. Make sure that no air bubbles form in the sample well (S).
3. Wait until the color line(s) appear. The result should be read after 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes
The THC Rapid Test Cassette (Urine) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay based on the principle of competitive binding. Drugs present in the urine sample compete with the drug conjugate for binding sites on the antibody. During the test, a urine sample migrates upward by capillary action. Marijuana, if present in the urine sample at less than 50 ng/mL, will not saturate the binding sites of the antibody-coated particles in the cassette. The antibody-coated particles are then captured by immobilized THC conjugate and a visible colored line will appear in the test line region. The colored line will not form in the test line region if the marijuana level is above 50 ng/mL because it would saturate all binding sites of the anti-marijuana antibodies. A drug-positive urine specimen will not produce a colored line in the test line region due to drug competition, while a drug-negative urine specimen or a specimen with a drug concentration below the cutoff will produce a line in the test line region. As a procedural control, a colored line will always appear in the control line region, indicating that the correct sample volume has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
