Bring all test materials to room temperature (15-30°C) before performing the test.
1.) Remove the test cassette from the foil packaging and perform the test within 1 hour. The best results are achieved when the test is performed immediately after opening.
2.) Place an extraction tube in the workstation. Hold the vial with the extraction solution vertically, head down, over the extraction tube. Gently squeeze the vial and add 6 drops (approx. 400 µl) into the tube without touching the edges.
3.) Place the swab into the extraction tube, rotate it for about 10 seconds and press it repeatedly against the wall of the extraction tube to transfer as many antigens as possible into the solution.
4.) Squeeze the extraction tube slightly when removing the swab to retain as much solution as possible. Dispose of the swab according to local regulations.
5.) Place a dropper cap on the extraction tube. Place a test cassette on a flat, clean surface.
6.) Add 3 drops (approx. 120µl) into the opening of the test cassette and start the timer. Read the result after 15 minutes. Test results read after more than 20 minutes are generally invalid.
This rapid influenza test in cassette form is an immunoassay-based membrane test for the qualitative detection of influenza A/B nucleoproteins in throat and nasal swabs as well as nasal secretion samples. For this purpose, the two test lines (A and B) were each coated with antibodies specific for influenza A and B respectively. During the test, the sample migrates across the test membrane and any antigens present in the sample react with the particles coated with antibodies against influenza and thus color 1 or 2 red test lines (A and B). The coloring of one or two test lines indicates a positive test result. A control line (C) serves as an integrated follow-up control and will always color if the test was carried out correctly.
